About Diversity Fashions

Hi, I'm Marie Williams, owner of Diversity Fashions

MarieI guess having been a home sewer from the age of 10, it shouldn't have been too much of a surprise that I eventually ended up with a fashion boutique. Having worked in fashion retail and wholesale, I couldn't resist starting my own label (Scenario) which was my main business for about 8 years. And when the opportunity came to take over one of the shops I was supplying with my designer label, it seemed to be the next logical step in my career. And so Diversity Fashions was born!

That was over seven years ago. Since then, we have become known (famous, really) for always having a great selection of colours instore - no matter what season. So if you are tired of only seeing racks of black clothes, then you need to come and visit us — pronto! My aim is to showcase labels that are interesting, wearable, colourful and, dare I say it - Diverse.

Our most heard comment from satisfied customers is “I always find something different here!”

I am constantly on the lookout for labels that have that point of difference. Sometimes it's the good value of the garments, sometimes it's the beautiful workmanship that overrides the price, or it has such good styling and fit - whether you are a size 8 or a 20.

We have one code at Diversity Fashions - and that is Honesty, with a capital H. We are here to help you look your best. All my staff can be trusted to have your interests at heart. After all, we want you to get compliments!

We don't want to be strangers, so here's a snippet of info from each of us...

Meet our Staff

Dixie

DixieI have always been involved in the fashion industry, previously working in various boutiques including Made in the Shade Newmarket (another boutique known for their colourful prints) and latterly at Charismatique Mairangi Bay (a plus-size boutique). I think one of the benefits of working there is that I'm able to make those less comfortable with their bodies feel looked after, and understood.

In the 90's I had a successful tie-dyed garment business, which gave me a knowledge of fibres and garment construction. Knowledge that's still useful today. I believe my strengths are my own personal style (did I invented layering? I've always dressed this way!), my down to earth approach, my love of accessories, intuitively knowing just which necklace to team with your outfit for that complete look. Not to be one with spare time - I love jewellery so much I also make my own!

Working at Diversity Fashions gives me the chance to show you that you don't have to have a 'model' figure to look good in today's fashions. My current favourite labels stocked at Diversity Fashions are Cashews and Faye.com.au.

Lynne

LynneI have been the part-time sales lady at Diversity Fashions since 2007. After having brought up 3 boys, I jumped at the chance of finally being able to indulge in my love of clothes! (funny how my wardrobe keeps getting bigger and bigger!) Being 'well endowed' and a "typical inverted triangle" I do have personal experience of how hard it is to find the correct fit for certain shapes... and I love the challenge of showing you which garments I would recommend.

Since working here, I have had the opportunity of seeing how colour can transform your look, and I consider that I have a good eye for what shades are uplifting for you. Out the labels that I find always fit, Advocado and Revue are my favourites.

Margaret

MargaretAfter working at Diversity Fashions for the past 5 years, it's the knowledge that I have helped so many people find 'just what they were looking for' that makes me happy. I believe I am good at listening to what you are asking for, and love being able to put all the pieces together for you. The final touches, whether its a scarf, fascinator, or jewellery are all important to me, because it's often those things that make all the difference.

Maybe because I come from a background in makeup (in Nutrimetics), for me it's about the little things that can transform you from average to fantastic!

Years ago, I was a founder member of "Look Good Feel Better" who help women with cancer feel better about themselves through makeup, and so am well aware of how a lack of self confidence can be so hard. I promise you that you won't find me selling you something that doesn't empower your spirit.

The labels that make me say "I have to have that" are Calico and Seven Sisters, because for me it's all about quality over quantity.
